Y’all. What the HECK is going on?

I just continue to be flabbergasted on a daily basis.

Trump and MAGA are causing a major regression in our democracy and seemingly, nobody is doing anything about it! How long do we allow this to continue? I have so many thoughts lately.

Charlie Kirk & the Shooter

So let’s get this straight — we can release the text messages exchanged between Charlie Kirk’s shooter and his roommate — in the middle of an active, ongoing MURDER INVESTIGATION — but we can’t release the Epstein files?

Can someone make this make sense?

The same day as the shooting, MAGA voted not to release the Epstein files (opens in a new tab) . How much more obvious does it have to get for people to understand that MAGA leaders (including Trump) are in the Epstein files, and that’s why they’re blocking release? Yep. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but I wouldn’t put it past Trump and MAGA leaders to have had a hand in this un-aliving so they could quietly continue hiding the Epstein files.

Jimmy Kimmel

Apparently, freedom of the press is gone. Trump didn’t like that Jimmy Kimmel made a joke about him? Now the show has been canceled indefinitely. Disney kissed the orange, shit-stained ring at the White House. Trump weaponized the FCC against Disney (opens in a new tab) to pressure them into doing this. A clear violation of the 1st Amendment.

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

U.S. Constitution, First Amendment (opens in a new tab)

Here’s something I wish more people understood: let’s say you say something in public that your employer doesn’t like, and as a result they fire you — that is not a violation of the 1st Amendment. That’s a private company making a business decision. Now, let’s say you make the same comment, and your employer is then threatened by the government with losing their license if they don’t fire you — that is a violation of the 1st Amendment.

Technically speaking, only the government can violate someone’s 1st Amendment rights (and freedom of the press, which is part of the same amendment).

Actions have consequences. I get it. But let’s be real: what Jimmy Kimmel said (opens in a new tab) was not inappropriate. It was a joke. Just last year MAGA folks were calling liberals “snowflakes” — now we see who the real snowflakes are.

And the Republican Party is the party of small government? Less government interference? The party of freedom? Yeah, ok.

Here’s the thing: we must protect free speech — and we must defend it, even when it’s offensive.

MAGA defends the racist, homophobic, sexist speech that Charlie Kirk spewed, but actively tries to take down a comedian for making a joke about Trump. They only care about free speech when it’s their speech.

Further Freedom of the Press Issues

Now Trump is demanding that the press cannot publish negative things about him or else their licenses will get pulled (opens in a new tab) . Essentially, he’s trying to do the same thing to the entire press that he did to Jimmy Kimmel.

Party of freedom? Party of smaller government? Party of free speech? Yeah, ok.

Finishing Thoughts

I wish I knew how to get people to understand what is happening. It’s very serious, yet nobody cares. Free speech and freedom of the press aren’t the only issues under attack in America right now. Our democracy is being dismantled, in plain sight, right in front of us — and only a few are speaking up.

MAGA doesn’t see an issue because of identity politics, and they blindly follow anything Trump says as they remain in his cult.

MAGA also doesn’t care because it’s not affecting them, yet. One day it will. And I just hope it won’t be too late.

When I started planning this website (and potentially this blog), I didn’t expect to be posting such heavy things — but I do need an outlet. Let’s hope next week brings better news.

In the meantime, everybody should go read the Constitution of the United States (opens in a new tab) .

Peace out,
